Frequency Charts

About Frequency Charts

Frequency charts show how the response frequency is distributed among the different response options. They are the foundation of all reports and the settings depend on the question type they are based on.

Add Frequency Charts

To add Frequency charts, all you have to do is:

  1. Go to your report, click on the add report element icon (), and select frequency.
  2. Select the variable the chart will be based on and click the add button. Your chart will be created and added to the bottom of your report immediately.

Frequency Chart Layout

Frequency charts are compatible with all question types, however, the default layout of frequency charts depends on the question or variable type that the chart is based on.

Depending on the question type, there are various available layouts for frequency charts as shown in the table below:

Open Answers in Frequency Charts

Multiple Choice, Rating Scale, Net Promoter Score®, and Recommendation Score questions have the benefit to allow respondents to leave a text entry. For Multiple Choice questions, it's the last response option, whereas the other question types nudge the respondent to elaborate on their answer to the scale.

When adding a frequency chart based on one of these questions, the open answers will appear underneath the chart, allowing you to simply click on the open answers icon and view all the available answers.

To be able to see these open answers in your PDF download, you have to create a copy of the chart and change it to an open answers chart. The report downloads the available charts, which means you have to have an open answer chart.

  1. Go to your report.
  2. Click on the actions menu and click copy.
  3. Select the chart you want to copy and click copy.
  4. Click on the newly created chart and select open answers under layout. Your changes will be saved immediately.
  5. Close the edit chart menu.
  6. Open the side menu and select download.
  7. Under the file format, open the dropdown and select PDF.
  8. Under report content, enable open answers.
  9. Finally, click download.

The open answers will be at the end of your PDF report.
