About Report Variables
When you create a question or variable, a value is given to each response option. By default, the first response option will have a value of 1, the second choice 2, and so forth. With Report Variables, you can modify these values to align with the desired analysis you want from your reports.
Edit Report Variable Values
You can easily edit the variable's values for better reporting. You can use decimals and positive or negative integers as variable values. The decimal format is with a period (.), e.g. 0.5. You can give response options the same or different values.
To edit the values, all you have to do is:
- Go to your report and select settings on the side menu. If the menu is closed click on the menu icon (
) to open it first.
- Under data, click on variables.
- Click on the variable (question or background variable) whose values you want to edit and select edit.
- Under the value column, you can change the values for the response options. For example, a yes/no question will have "yes" with a value of 1 and "no" with a value of "2", you can change that to be 0 and 1, respectively.
- Click save to change your changes.
Changes to variables will affect all the reports based on the same survey.
Remove Values from Averages and Charts
You can easily remove response option values from average calculations or completely from your charts. All you have to do is:
- Go to your report and select settings on the side menu. If the menu is closed click on the menu icon (
) to open it first.
- Under data, click on variables.
- Click on the variable (question or background variable) whose values you want to remove from average calculations or charts.
- Use the toggle switches under the average and chart columns to remove the values.
- Click save to change your changes.
Changes to variables will affect all the reports based on the same survey.
If you've used Rating Scale, Matrix Rating Scale, Net Promoter Score®, or Recommendation Score questions in your survey and you've enabled the "don't know" option, Enalyzer automatically removes it from average calculations.
