About Report Filters

You can filter reports by answers, time, and any survey background variable, e.g. age, department, unit, company, and more. Filtering and drilling down into your data gives you a better understanding of the state of your business.

When designing your survey, think about how you want to filter your results. If you want to see responses by group, make sure to include a question in the survey that will allow you to filter by that group, or upload data to a survey background variable.

Add Report Filters

To add report filters, you have to:

  1. Go to your report and click on the filters button ().
  2. If this is your first filter, click on the add filter button. If you already have filters, click edit and the add report filter icon (BluePlusIcon.png).
  3. Define the filter criteria by selecting the relevant survey variable or question.
  4. Define filter access, which means whether or not report readers are able to make their own selections.
    • You can allow report readers to make their own selections to the filter. For example, if you filter the report via response status and give readers access to make their own selection, they would be able to filter the report by all the statuses, such as completed and incomplete responses.

      1. Click yes to give readers access.
      2. Select the default filter selection and click next. Readers will be able to make their own selections, but the report defaults to your selections if the page is refreshed.
      3. Name your filter and click add.
      4. Your filter will be added and filter the report.
    • You can decide to restrict what you share with your readers and thus deny access for them to make their own filter selections. For example, if you filter the report by the completed response status and don't give readers access, they will only be able to see data from completed responses.

      1. Click no to deny readers access.
      2. Define the filter selection and click next. Readers will not be able to edit your filter selections.
      3. Name your filter and click add.
      4. Your filter will be added and filter the report.
